Qatar Business Women Award to hold its Gala Award Ceremony on 25th February

This unique event will be a spectacular culmination to a yearlong effort to identify leading Qatari women in the country's competitive business and professional arenas and award them for their exceptional contribution. Attendees will be treated to an evening of glamour and world-class entertainment, worthy of a first-time tribute of this nature. The programme will feature a world-famous entertainment special performance to be announced shortly.

The Qatar Business Woman Award is a partnership comprising Qatar Shell, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Qatari Businesswomen Forum. Qatar Shell is the overall sponsor of Qatar Business Women Award, Qatar Petroleum is the major sponsor, and Al Fardan Jewelry is sponsoring the evening.

Launched in December 2007 under the auspices of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Misnad, the QBWA aims to identify and pay tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatar's society and economy through their significant professional or entrepreneurial achievements.

The award focuses on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their fields.

Over the past year, the Qatar Business Women Award committee has held a series of workshops and clinics to acquaint potential candidates with the application process and selection criteria that will be used to determine who the winners will be.

In late 2008, the Supreme Jury has met, evaluated the Assessment Panel's recommendations and short-listed the 2008 winners and runners-up. The Supreme Jury is comprised of experienced, successful and respected professionals in the fields of public service, private industry and academia who have offered their time and expertise to support and encourage the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Misnad and her belief in the competence, determination, creativity and diligence of Qatari women.

The Supreme Jury members consist of H.E. Dr. Khalid Bin Jabor Al Thani, MD - Vice President, Permanent Elections Committee; H.E. Dr. Lulwa Bint Abdullah Al-Misnad - Assistant Secretary General, Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting; H.E. Sheikha Hessah Bint Khalifa Bin Ahmad Al Thani - UN Special Rapporteur on Disability; H.E. Sheikha Hanadi Bint Nasser Bin Khalid Al Thani - Founder and Chairperson of Amwal; Mr. Adel Abdel Rahman Issa Al Mannai - Board Member of QCCI and Mr.Ahmad Mahdi Al Majed - Chairman of Al Majed Group.
