An increasing concern for businesses is how to best deal with and manage the recently accelerated growth of digital information. Energy efficiency, business continuity of IT infrastructure, information governance, meeting risk and compliance requirements for data storage and back up are also some of the top priorities for organisations.
Addressing these information storage and management challenges faced by organisations today, the EMC Velocity2 Signature Solution Centre will demonstrate information infrastructure solutions developed by Emirates Computers and based on the EMC Proven Solution for Microsoft Exchange environments. A broad range of companies can benefit from using the Solution Centre, from small to medium-sized organizations investigating storage consolidation to large corporations looking for Data Centre solutions that require demonstration or testing of application migration or disaster recovery scenarios.
"The Solution Centre created jointly with EMC will showcase the best-in-class storage solutions available in the market today. The goal is to help customers better evaluate how storage solutions can be optimised for deployment within their own organisations, and maximize efficiency of the data management infrastructure in line with their new business processes," says Mr. Walid Moussa, Technical sales support manager, Emirates Computers.
Emirates Computers' EMC Velocity2 Signature Solution Center is designed to host a number of activities, including:
- Customer briefings, seminars and workshops
- Showcase live and remote demonstrations of solutions, hardware and software
- Training and accreditation
- Execute complex proof-of-concept
- Migration planning
- Benchmark and performance testing
- Comprehensive solution development
- Development of near-customer environments via EMC's Customer Integration Lab
Storage consultants certified by EMC will also be available on-site at the solution centre to understand the concerns of customers and explain the nitty-gritty of various technologies being showcased in tandem.
Moussa added:
"The EMC Solution Centre is an Emirates Computers and EMC joint showcase for Proven Solutions based on customer applications. Customers can see their applications running together with the various EMC solutions, as they would in their own environment, thus providing them with a live experience of technology and making them confident of a Return on Investment. For example Microsoft Exchange and Oracle running on EMC hardware and software, together with Emirates Computers services, allows us to offer customers a range of solutions such as application testing, application migrations, virtualization, backup / recovery and archiving, as well as product demonstrations and seminars."
Mohammed Amin, Regional Manager, EMC Middle East & North Africa, said: "This Solution Centre provides Emirates Computers with the necessary tools to deliver increased value to customers through their relationship with EMC. Supporting EMC Velocity2 Signature Solution Centres is one of the core tenants of our reseller enablement program, which helps drive more sales opportunities."
The Solution Centre features Dell PowerEdge Blade servers as the server layer with Cisco as the network layer for both the LAN and SAN. A key component is the use of VMware for virtualization of the infrastructure, which can provide the flexibility and capability necessary to rapidly configure the environment for the differing requirements of each customer. Microsoft Exchange is deployed as the primary application within the EMC Proven Solution framework and all solutions will be based around this application.
The industry-leading EMC CLARiiON CX4 networked storage system, together with EMC software such as EMC SnapView and EMC Replication Manager, demonstrates the rapid recovery capability this provides for Microsoft Exchange. In addition to this, the EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) system is deployed together with EMC EmailXtender e-mail archiving software to demonstrate how an Exchange environment is archived as well as the benefits achieved. This infrastructure can also be used to test Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 migrations in the safety of a lab environment.
The opening of the new EMC Solution Centre in Abu Dhabi further demonstrates Emirates Computers' strong commitment to its customers and its capability to provide them a complete offering of consultancy, implementation and development services. Emirates Computers' EMC Solution Centre officially opened on 2nd February 2009.
