CGC, Cycling Federation join hands for Tour of Qatar championship

Consolidated Gulf Co (CGC), the leading IT, telecom and engineering conglomerate and exclusive Nokia partner in Qatar, has joined hands with Qatar Cycling Federation to support the prestigious Tour of Qatar cycling event being held in the country.
On the occasion, Majed Al-Naimi, Qatar Cycling Federation Secretary General, thanked CGC for extending support in promoting the cycling in the country. "We are really happy to get support from the leading technology company and appreciate its support for a sporting cause. Getting the opportunity to host one of the biggest cycling events in the world is a privilege for us. I am sure the event will open more avenues for our country, gulf region and Asia as well to go for more sporting events."
CGC's COO, Anil Mahajan, expressed happiness to be associated with the prestigious event. He said, "It's our policy to support local sporting events, especially when it is aimed at promoting health and environment. Cycling being an environment-friendly and physical fitness supportive event, we at CGC are pleased to contribute to the successful hosting of the international event. We appreciate Qatar Cycling Federation's efforts to promote this eco-friendly sport in Qatar, which will encourage people to extend a helping hand for sporting and greening moves in Qatar."
This year's Tour of Qatar is divided into six stages, with a total distance of 685 km between Doha, Stadium Khalifah, Cornishe Al Khor, Al Zubarah, Doha Golf Club, Old Souq, Madinat Al Shamal, Camel Race Track, Qatar Foundation, Duhail, Al Luqta, Sealine, Mesaied, Wakrah, and concluding at the Doha Corniche. Starting with the male event between February 1 and February 6, these cycling races will also witness the inaugural Ladies Tour of Qatar from February 8 to 10 in which more than 90 cyclists from across five continents will take part.
