This is the second year running that SMG and GM have been recognised by the Cristal Awards, last year, Chevrolet Cricket received a Cristal Automative/ Automotive products award for the 'Chevrolet Cricket Show' campaign.

This year, Starcom MediaVest Group was rewarded for achieving the seemingly impossible. By 'creatively' positioning Indiana Jones behind the wheel of the new Hummer H2, SMG showcased the Hummer's new interior in a locally-shot movie promotion for 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'.

Fadi Ghosn, Managing Director of GM Hummer was delighted with the campaign, declaring, "It is initiatives like this one, highly exploitable across various audiences and touch points that truly make Hummer like nothing else."

As well as 3 awards for GM Hummer, Starcom MediaVest Group also won the Advertisers' Cristal Choice 'Drink' award for Coca-Cola's 'Flag Tour' campaign. This campaign, which successfully positioned Coca-Cola as the 'official sponsor of the Egyptian football fan', managed to make Coca-Cola the number one brand name associated with the 'African Cup of Nations', despite the fact that all sponsorship and broadcasting rights were owned by the brand's direct competitors.

Tarek Daouk, EVP of SMG MENA Group says, "We are very proud of the GM/Hummer and Coca-Cola Cristal wins. Both are great examples of how we at SMG continue to push the communication boundaries by creating new and innovative connections with our consumers in non conventional ways - be that Hummer's branded integrated experience' with a little help from Indiana Jones or captivating an entire nation by creating a Coca-Cola movement supporting Egypt around the African Cup of Nations."
