  • PRESS RELEASE

Chevrolet Tahoe continues to set its mark across the Middle East as the leading powerful full-size SUV with sales soaring by 24% in 2008.

Karim Corm, Chevrolet SUV Marketing Manager in the Middle East, says:
"The Chevrolet Tahoe has dominated the market in terms of raw power, value, quality and comfort and this year it comes with a new Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission."

"Designed to deliver a sharper driving experience, segment-leading fuel efficiency, increased interior refinement and improved quietness, the Tahoe is truly a leader in its category," he adds.

The new Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission is standard on all trims, and complements the standard Vortec 5.3-litre V8 with 355 hp at 5,200 rpm, and 505 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm to offer a world-class powertrain. The new transmission enhances real world fuel efficiency on the highway via reduced engine speed, as the engine requires less fuel to operate at a lower "cruising" speed with electronic overdrive and Driver Shift Control, which allows drivers to up- and downshift clutchlessly through gear knob controls.

The 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe is available in three trim levels: LS, LT and LTZ, with two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models available. All come well equipped with enhanced safety, comfort and convenience features.

The 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe features a body with rounded lines, fully wrapped front lower body fascia that eliminates air-grabbing gaps, doors that wrap over the rocker panels, a steeply raked windscreen - tilted back 57 degrees - and a radio antenna that is built into the rear quarter-window glass. Such detail makes the Tahoe more smooth and aerodynamic.

Refinements throughout Tahoe's spacious interior create an environment exuding quality, precision and comfort. Low-gloss materials have been used for the instrument panel and other trim pieces. LED backlighting for the instruments and chrome accents on instruments and vents further accentuate the luxury feel of the interior. The Tahoe can accommodate five to nine passengers, the latter when ordered with the available front bench and third-row seating. All three rows offer spacious seating, with even adults accommodated comfortably in the third row. With the second row in its flipped and folded position, the Tahoe provides 3,084 litres of cargo capacity.

Out on the road, the Tahoe feels taut for a full-size SUV, and the steering is precise and responsive and the brakes are precise and smooth. At highway speeds the Tahoe is quiet and comfortable.

Building on the inherent values of the Chevrolet Tahoe, the Z71 version features large recovery hook openings, prominent rectangular fog lamps and specific grille texture and platinum chrome grille trim with intense off-road capabilities.
