Spring semester begins at Abu Dhabi University

The Spring semester at Abu Dhabi University began last Sunday when 3880 students, amongst them approximately 500 freshman students, attended their first day of classes on both ADU's Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses.
Preparations for the new semester included the maintenance of labs and classrooms, the appointment of new well-qualified academic staff and faculty members, the maintenance of university facilities and the improvement of student activities.
Dr. Nabil noted that the university offers 27 academic programs on both bachelor and master degree levels (17 bachelors programs and 10 masters programs).
He also mentioned that the university is affiliated with some of the world's most prestigious universities including the University of Berlin, the University of Westminster, Purdue University, Monash University, Bonn University, TU Munich, Georgia University, the University of Wollongong, Cranfield University, American University in Iraqi Kurdistan, the University of Victoria, and London University.
Dr. Nabil added that the university will be carrying out a wide range of scientific and practical initiatives throughout this semester that are aligned with the needs of the UAE business sector and its interests in Abu Dhabi. ADU will actively be conducting scientific research projects in the environmental, practical, and construction fields.
Dr. Nabil also mentioned that the Spring semester will witness a notable shift in the field of scientific research, since the university has just finished adding the last touches to the scientific research strategy which it intends to carry out during within the foreseeable future.
This research will be conducted in cooperation with a number of domestic parties and agencies, as well as the public and private sectors. He added that the university gives priority to scientific research in order to fulfill its academic and community role.
Ms. Nevine Al Shura, the ADU Registrar, noted that the university has organized an orientation day for the approximately 500 freshman students last week on both campuses (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain). The orientation demonstrated the rights and duties of university students, as well as the nature of academic and registration processes at the university.
The orientation also included a comprehensive tour around both of the university campus facilities and student dorms for those who will be residing there. Freshman students were also given the opportunity to raise any questions or inquiries after each tour and answers were given by the staff and faculty in attendance.
