Through the new partnership, Info2cell.com subscribers can now receive 1-minute BBC news bulletins of the day's top stories. The new technology is made possible by WAP push subscription, while content for the news videos will come from BBC Arabia.
Bashar Dahabra, founder and CEO of Info2cell.com, said that the new service reaffirms Info2cell.com's commitment to provide high quality valued-added services to its customers and also complements the company's strategy of consolidating its presence in the KSA.
"The BBC is regarded as one of world's trusted and respected news provider with a very strong presence in the Middle East region. Our partnership with them to provide our subscribers with video news feeds gives us a leading position in the streaming video services of the telecommunications industry. Further, while it demonstrates our commitment to provide only the best service to our subscribers, it also perfectly aligns with our consolidation strategy in the Kingdom, which is seeing a significant increase in mobile penetration,"
he said.
According to Madar Research, the KSA's mobile phone penetration rate exceeded the 100% mark in 2007, rising a remarkable 117.15% over the previous year. Further, the total mobile phone subscriptions for 2007 reached 28.4m for a robust 44.16% year-on-year growth.
