GSDP starts intensive stakeholder engagement process

To ensure the authenticity of Qatar's National Development Strategy and to ensure that it draws on knowledge and views across society, the General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP) will this week take the next steps in a sustained process of structured stakeholder engagement meetings.

Qatar's National Development Strategy will provide a framework that will facilitate concrete steps towards the achievement of the goals of Qatar's National Vision 2030 (QNV). The first phase of the stakeholder engagement will focus on ministries and government agencies - the private sector and civil society will be consulted later.

Dr. Ibrahim Ibrahim, Secretary General of GSDP, said:
"All stakeholders from government to private and civil society sectors are equally important. This is a collective responsibility that needs everyone's commitment. Achieving the goals of Qatar's National Vision is a challenging task and cannot be done in isolation. GSDP will build cooperation and partnerships across all sectors of the society."

GSDP will be conducting face-to-face meetings with government stakeholders. The purpose of these meetings is to agree on the best mechanisms of coordination and cooperation between GSDP and the stakeholders as preparations for Qatar's National Development Strategy get underway.

"Stakeholder engagement is not a one shot exercise, it is a continuous process that must be sustained through every stage of the preparations of the National Development Strategy. Every institution in Qatar, whether public or private, has something to contribute to Qatar's National Vision and the National Development Strategy," Dr. Ibrahim Ibrahim noted.

GSDP will hold its first stakeholder meeting on the National Development Strategy with the Qatar Central Bank on Thursday.
