"This year we have attracted 13 international 'big name' photographers to come to Dubai and share the secrets of their trade." said Event Organiser, Mohamed Somji.

The annual event will kick off with an 'invitation only' opening night exhibition at the Empty Quarter Gallery at DIFC on 29th March. The exhibition will feature selected works from the visiting photographers including Joe McNally, Chase Jarvis, Vincent Laforet, and Asim Rafiqui.

Gulf Photo Plus will be held at Dubai's Knowledge Village from 30th March to 4th April. With more than 50 workshops as well as the extremely popular 'Photo Friday' event which features lectures, product demonstrations and workshops, this is a not to be missed event for complete novices and professionals alike.

New for 2009 is the inclusion of topics such as documentary photography which will be presented by Asim Rafiqui who was in Gaza earlier this year shooting. Gulf Photo Plus will also present a class on Wedding Photography which will be facilitated by Cliff Mautner who is considered to be among the Top 10 Wedding photographers in the world.

"Photoshop is always a popular class at Gulf Photo Plus and we have secured the best in the business again this year to teach participants."

said Mohamed.

Why is the event so successful? Mohamed Somji says it's put down to the expertise level of the photographers who present the workshops and the true-to-life experiences that the Gulf Photo Plus team put together that would normally be difficult or impossible to create alone.

"There are workshops available for professional photographers with leading experts Chase Jarvis and Vincent Laforet. Vincent has an enormous profile in the world of photography and is a Pulitzer winning photographer himself." adds Mohamed.

Gulf Photo Plus aims to promote and nurture photography in the Middle East through training programmes, workshops, online support and the annual Gulf Photo Plus event.

Workshops run for half days to 5 full days but for those who cannot afford the time for these can come along to the 'Photo Friday' event on 3rd April and top up on tips and techniques from a choice of more than 20 different lecture topics, mini-workshops and live demonstrations from instructing photographers and brand experts.

"Photo Friday is the place to get some amazing and exclusive special offers on camera gear, Apple Macs, lighting equipment and accessories. So if you're in the mood to bag a bargain mark 3rd April on your calendar now."

says Mohamed.
