MEED unveils AWCS Gulf Construction Outlook Survey 2009 in Abu Dhabi

MEED, the Middle East's premier business intelligence provider, today announced the launch of the 'AWCS/MEED Gulf Construction Outlook Survey', a comprehensive compilation of market insights and trends.

Over 35 CEOs from the region's leading construction firms will contribute to the survey, which was announced on the first day of the Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) 2009 that opened today at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi and will conclude on 11 February.

Announcing the survey at a press conference organised on the sidelines of AWCS, Richard Thompson, Editor at MEED said, "The survey will serve as a powerful indicator to the future of the construction market in the Gulf, and will be based on the views of industry experts who keep a close watch on market movements. It will allow senior businessmen and investors to form an accurate assessment of the short and long-term prospects of the market based on industry sentiment."

Focusing on the construction sector and current market conditions, AWCS 2009 has attracted 169 companies from 25 countries. The event has brought together leading construction professionals including property developers, contractors, industry experts, investors, government and property development authorities, architects, designers, consultants, as well as key senior officials.

The first day of the event also drew insightful perspectives from panellists including Dr. Hani Shammah, CEO of Bloom Properties, Abdul Majeed Al Fahim, Chairman of Pearl Dubai, Ali H. Kolaghassi, Vice-President - Corporate Business Development with Saudi Oger, John Bullough, CEO of Aldar Properties, and Mounir D. Haider, CEO of Sorouh Real Estate.
