Manchester Business School's DBA programme tops FT world ranking

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, February 11 - 2009 at 13:57
  • PRESS RELEASE

The Financial Times 2009 business school ranking (announced in January 2009) has confirmed Manchester Business School's (MBS) Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) as the world's top doctoral programme, for the second consecutive year.

Article continues below

The MBS programme admits only 25 students from around the world each year. MBS offers the DBA to senior business people in the Middle East,
supported by the school's regional centre in Dubai. Three students in the region are already pursuing the DBA and the programme director will
visit Dubai this month (February 2009)to meet candidates from the region and to run an information session about the programme.

The DBA programme is the logical extension of the MBA programme, through which senior business practitioners can undertake a substantial piece of
research work, whilst remaining in a real business environment and with minimal disruption to their lives. Apart from the greater emphasis on
the practical business application of the research, all the elements of the DBA are the same as for a PhD. The MBS DBA programme combines
self-study with face-to-face residential workshops in the UK.

Chris Higgins, Middle East Director for MBS Worldwide, comments:

"The DBA programme is highly specialised and intended for very experienced
and senior business people, who are looking to undertake an original piece of serious research. We already have three senior businessmen from
the region following the DBA programme, compared to more than 500 students in the region following
our MBA programmes."

The DBA information session will be held at 7.00pm on Monday, 16 February 2009, hosted by Professor Chris Easingwood (DBA Programme Director at MBS) at the MBS Worldwide office F05, block 6, at Dubai Knowledge Village, followed by one on one sessions on Wednesday, 18 February 2009, for students with research proposals to discuss.
