Postgraduate classes begins at ADU

The postgraduate spring semester classes at ADU began yesterday on both of its campuses (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain).
Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, the ADU Chancellor, noted that the postgraduate programs include a Masters of Business Administration, an MBA in International Business in collaboration with ENPC-Paris, a Masters of Human Resources Management, a Masters of Science in Finance, a Masters of Science in Computer science, a Master of Education in Leadership, in addition to other programs. Dr. Nabil added that the university had completed its preparations for the spring semester and hired additional highly qualified faculty members for all its programs. ADU also provided and prepared all the necessary facilities for classrooms and scientific labs to ensure that students obtain the maximum benefit from these programs.
Dr. Nabil added that one of the primary goals of ADU is to become the destination of choice for professional graduate education in UAE and the region. ADU currently has over 650 graduate students. The chancellor also said that the university will continue to offer new graduate programs in the near future to meet the growing demand for highly qualified and talented workforce for the knowledge-based economy.
Dr. Yosser Gadhoum, Dean of the College of Research and Graduate Studies, noted that all of the programs that are currently being offered were designed in accordance with the latest academic and international standards available, as well as taking into account the specific local labor market needs. Dr. Yosser also said that the university is keen on providing a unique academic environment for its students. The support and interest given to the masters programs represent an additional step towards the university's strategy of preparing students for successful and productive careers as professionals in industry and government. He pointed out that other strategies of the College of Research and Graduate Studies include partnering with prominent corporate, community and government agencies throughout the UAE and the region, in order to serve the business sectors and the UAE community at large.
Dr. Yosser also spoke about the programs currently offered and their missions. The Master of Business Administration aims to produce graduates who will be prepared to advance into top managerial positions in marketing, finance, accounting, human resources and other departments in both the private and public sectors of the economy. The program offers the best combination of a small, intimate learning environment and cutting-edge classes taught by an internationally acclaimed faculty.
The Master of Science in Finance is set to produce financial leaders with advanced and applied financial research capabilities within the context of today's dynamic global financial world. It is an intense, immersive educational experience unrivaled for the breadth and depth of its course offerings. The program provides an innovative curriculum of sophisticated courses that builds a strong foundation in the principles and practices of finance and introduces emerging concepts, practices, and technology used in the finance industry. The program develops the analytical and creative capabilities of students to conduct research on the problems of finance led by internationally recognized senior faculty with outstanding records of scholarship. MSc Finance graduates will become more analytical thinkers through the process of scientific inquiry.
The Master of Human Resources Management will offer its students unique opportunities for advanced education in the field of Human Resources Management, as well as opportunities for leadership growth at personal and professional levels. The program helps students develop their skills in effective decision making, financial awareness and strategic thinking with a global perspective.
The Master of Science in Computer Science has been designed to specifically prepare smart, new, innovative, multi-skilled ICT knowledge professionals who will become the ICT leaders and executives of the future. They will be equipped to build the emerging dynamic, global information age by combining the study of computer science methodologies - components of software systems, telecommunications and multimedia technologies - with the study of information systems.
The College of Arts and Sciences offers 4 Master programs including a Masters of Leadership and a Masters of Teaching and Learning programs. The Masters of Leadership will help graduates demonstrate that they have acquired the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for effective team and school leadership at elementary, secondary and post-secondary educational levels. While the mission of the Masters of Teaching and Learning program is to graduate educational specialists who have the professional knowledge and pedagogical skills and attitudes essential for teaching and learning processes at schools.
In addition to these programs, the Masters of Arts in Translation provides students with the professional qualifications required to be competitive in securing a job in translation; as well as utilizing computers to aid them during the process of translation.
The Masters of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign Language aims to improve English language teaching in the UAE, and to enable graduates to use innovative teaching methods and techniques.
Mrs. Nevine Alshoura, the ADU Registrar, noted that the university has received approximately 450 applications from executive managers from various business sectors, and those who are interested in continuing their education by joining the ADU postgraduate programs on both of its campuses.
