Sign and Graphic Imaging expo to see new-to-market solutions for signage industry

This year's Sign and Graphic Imaging Middle East (SGI 2009) exhibition, taking place this week at Dubai Airport Expo, will see a number of new-to-market signage and digital printing solutions unveiled to the trade.

Exhibitors will descend upon Dubai from across the world for the three-day annual gathering, which sees some of the world's largest print solutions showcased to industry buyers.

Abdul Rehman Falaknaz, President of Falak Holdings Group, parent company of International Expo-Consults, organisers of SGI 2009, said:
"The Middle East is a unique market proposition for the sign and graphic imaging industry. You only have to drive along Sheikh Zayed Road and take in the huge billboards to realise that this market does signage bigger and better than any other. Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East has long become associated with new product debuts and the 2009 edition will prove no different. We have an exciting three days of business to look forward to."


3M will showcase its entire range of commercial graphics, from digital print films to banners. The international corporation will be promoting its new Scotchcal Overlaminate, designed to meet the highest demands in terms of printed graphic applications with 8580 film.

"The new Scotchcal Overlaminate turns textured surfaces into sales boards. This product has been specifically designed to offer perfect results for printed films on deep corrugations and on blinded windows. Our special application rollers guarantee an error free application every time," said Rania Kahwaji, Marketing co-ordinator, display & graphics, 3M Gulf.

ADS Advertising will be displaying its Graphtec brand of cutting plotters for signage, automotive, residential and commercial window tinting industry as well as for the packaging industry.

ADS will also be exhibiting X-Film brand of colour vinyl, used for specialty digital print media, and glass frosting film.

"The X-Film range of products are of the highest quality in the industry with 50 years of manufacturing experience. The richness of the colors of X-Film are applauded by designers and architects. The X-film range of products are widely used in the biggest shopping mall in Saudi Arabia, the Red Sea Mall," said Mr. Joseph John, Commercial Director, ADS Advertising.

In addition, ADS will also unveil a very strong type of Hi-Bond tape from the UK. Being demonstrated for the first time in the Middle East, Hi-Bond tapes are used in the glass, automotive, aluminium and signage industries.

Alcan Composites returns to SGI for the fourth time, and will showcase its product range comprising of leading brands including DIBOND aluminium composites panels, KAPA, GATORFOAM, FOAM-X lightweight foamboards and FOREX rigid foam plastic sheets.

"We will present the whole range at the show. However our focus will be on new DIBOND surfaces for shop design, advertising, and event marketing; two of these being DIBOND mirror gold and mirror anthracite, both ACMs with golden and dark mirror surfaces. Two other new wooden surfaces complete our established range for shop design and advertising applications," said Kerstin Walter, Marketing Communications Manager, Alcan Composites.

"We consider the show as an important business platform and a meeting point of the advertising industry of the Near East and Middle East market. Our participation is an important step into our business and market development," Walter added.

SGI 2009 will dominate Dubai Airport Expo when it takes place in February, with visibility and branding opportunities for exhibitors adding to their overall exposure at the show.

SGI 2009 will showcase the latest products and emerging technologies from the industries of Advertising, Architectural Hardware, Banners & Posters, Digital Imaging, Electronic Message Centres, Electronic Signage, Graphic Imaging, Graphic Services, Large Format Printing, and Signage.

SGI 2009 will take place at Dubai Airport Expo from February 15 - 17, 2009. The show is supported by the Advertising Section of Dubai Municipality.
