During a specially arranged program, the students had the opportunity to meet and question senior Investcorp managers and to find out more about one of this region's leading firms.

As an asset management firm that specializes in alternative investments and a global operator with strong roots in the Gulf region, Investcorp was of great interest to the group. Presentations on Investcorp's various business areas were made by Carsten Hagenbucher, who presented on private equity; Jonathan Feeney, who spoke on hedge funds, and Alex Lien, who discussed technology investment. The students also met and talked to many other Investcorp executives during a full tour of the London offices. They ended their day with a visit, as Investcorp's guests, to see a show in London's West End theatre district.

The CPISP students are based at some of the UK's top universities, including the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Warwick and the London School of Economics, and are reading a wide variety of subjects including Economics, Law, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics.

CPISP's Higher Education Advisor to the UK, Ava Tansey, who accompanied the students on their visit, expressed appreciation of the strong support Investcorp gives the Program:

"We greatly appreciate Investcorp's support. It is a rare opportunity for our UK students to visit such a prestigious company and gain insight into the functions of the business. I would like to thank Investcorp for a very informative day."

Abdulla Abdulaal, who is studying Mathematics at Warwick University, said: "Our visit to Investcorp was very enjoyable. We learned about the company's unique model, but also how the general economic conditions that make newspaper headlines every day affect banking strategies and aims. Everyone working in the London office was very friendly and helpful. It was a very fruitful experience."

Investcorp President and Chief Operating Officer, Gary Long, said: "The Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program should be congratulated on providing such an exceptional opportunity for young Bahraini students to take places in top international Universities and Colleges. Investcorp is very proud to continue its support of the program."

Investcorp has been a platinum sponsor of CPISP since 2006 and invites students every year to visit both its London and New York offices giving them the opportunity to find out about the challenges and rewards of working in the alternative investment industry. In November 2008, 14 students from top tier US universities, including Yale, Princeton and Columbia, spent a day at Investcorp's New York office. In 2007, four students took part in a 10-week summer-long project as part of CPISP's ongoing Action Learning Program, an initiative also sponsored by Investcorp.
