The fast emerging UAE and Gulf region is regarded as a strategic partner for Wales; it is a market where quality truly matters amongst discerning GCC consumers and consequently a key importer of Welsh products as the standards emerging from Wales continue to be remarkable.

Exhibiting for their third year, Hybu Cig Cymru (Meat Promotion Wales) is active in many important markets, developing and strengthening business opportunities for red meat exporters from Wales. One such exporter is Welsh Country Foods who will also be present at the exhibition promoting their selection of Welsh Lamb.

Since opening up the market for Welsh Lamb in the UAE last year, Welsh Country Foods have gone from strength to strength, with Welsh lamb featuring on the menu in many of the 5 star restaurants in Dubai, including the prestigious Gordon Ramsey's Verre, Rhodes Mezzanine, The Grand Hyatt Hotel and Atlantis the Palm Jumeriah.

Although already experiencing enormous success in the UAE with produce available in Spinneys, Choithrams and Waitrose supermarkets, Rachel's Organic - the UK's first ever certified organic dairy - will be making their debut at Gulfood this year.

This multi award winning company can boast accolades such as 'Best Dairy Producer' in the 2008 True Taste Awards, 'Best Dairy Dessert' in the 2008 Dairy Innovation Awards and 'Best Dairy Product' in the 2007 Great Taste Awards (Guild of Fine Food).

Promoting healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle will be The Good Carb Company, set up by organic farmers on the Cardigan coast in West Wales. All food produced is from entirely natural ingredients that have a minimal effect on blood sugar level.

Completing this delegation is another multi award winning exhibitor, and most recently, receiver of the Queens Award for International Trade; Llanllyr Source. Established in 1999, Llanllyr Source is now recognized as one of the world's premium quality bottled water producers, and has already enjoyed much success with its products in the Middle East.

Lee Jennings, Vice President of International Business Wales (IBW), Middle East who is coordinating the delegation said;
"All companies are exhibiting exciting products at the show. Wales has a strong reputation both internationally and within the United Kingdom for premium, niche foods with high nutritional value."

"Currently we export over $10m worth of products to the region comprising mainly Welsh Lamb, cheeses, spring water and soft drinks, with our ongoing efforts and the help of platforms such as Gulfood we expect our exports to continue to grow in 2009". Lee Jennings added.
