Horizon International flight academy adds further strength to UAE armed forces support system

The Al Ain based academy, wholly-owned by Mubadala Development Company, (Mubadala) is the only flight training organization in the region offering pilot training for Fixed Wing and Rotary aircraft.

Through its services Horizon is able to train pilots, and support air forces across the region.

The academy is also the first in the region to introduce European Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) Curriculum with approval from UAE General Civil Aviation Authority.

To date Horizon has graduated close to 300 pilots and Flight Instructors within a very short span of five years.

In line with Mubadala's strategy to build a self sustaining and commercially viable support system for the UAE and regional military; the UAE Armed Forces are Horizon's first government client.

In the academy's endeavour to deliver the sound training solutions that the aviation industry has come to rely on, Horizon has continued to expand its training portfolio and is not only authorized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education to offer Higher Diploma in Aviation Management alongside its pilot training programs but is also ISO certified.

Horizons' students go through a selection process and have to meet the GCAA and ICAO entry requirements prior to commencing their aviation English Language training.

After the Ground instructions phase, students begin with the flying stage of the training. The program includes classroom sessions, computer based training and Web Based learning with all lesson recorded and available to students online.

Horizon maintenance set-up has evolved into a revenue generating facility manned by highly skilled and licensed technical staff.

Consequently, it has been chosen by Cessna to be an authorized service Centre. The Academy is currently evaluating suitable twin engine helicopters for advanced training. This shall be a useful addition to the existing fleet of Bell 206, Robinson-44 helicopters, Diamond and Cessna aircraft.

Offering both tailored courses and customized training, Horizon plays a key role in the Middle East's Aviation training sector.
