Today Her Excellency Suzanne Mubarak, Egypt's First Lady and founder and president of the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement (SMWIPM), inaugurated the Cyber Peace Initiative.

As a panel speaker at the CPI, Dr. Khaled Elamrawi, Intel General Manager Egypt, Levant and North Africa said, "At Intel we have a global education initiative and are committed to working with governments and the ecosystem to provide technology access to children and communities around the world via the internet. With leadership comes responsibility, and at Intel we not only want to provide Egyptian students with the proper educational tools but we also believe it is our duty to educate them about security and personal safety when utilizing the internet."

In an attempt to raise awareness about knowledge transfer safety through the internet, the event gathered around key partners to participate in executing the goals of the Cyber Peace Initiative.

Elamrawi added that the benefit of such a global connection doesn't come without risks. "The online world like the physical world requires a certain level of safety precautions," he said. "This in turn requires students, parents, teachers, and consumers to change the way they perceive online security and personal safety,"

As part of the Cyper Peace Initiative events, Intel also reinforced its commitment to education in Egypt by announcing the provision of Intel Learn training to over 5000 students in CPI, thus helping the students develop 21st learning skills and understand their responsibility in cyber space.

CPI's mandate is to increase awareness about the immense potential of information and communications technology in today's global arena, and of Internet safety. In order to accomplish their mandate, CPI will engage in conducting research on current e-safety needs of young people in Egypt, assess the most appropriate guidelines for safe internet usage, and contribute to wider strategic programs.

In collaboration with companies like Intel, who are actively involved in education programs, advocacy and technology access, the second annual CPI meeting tackled the methods of developing e-content and creating a merger within the education system.
