Ma'an Executive Committee visits MDA

The group visited the Area to witness the latest developments on the four clusters of the project, which is bound to create over 20,000 job opportunities once completed.

Prior to the tour, Mr. Mohammed Turk, CEO of MDC, provided an overview of the company's activities and efforts to attract investments to the Area, which have totaled JD 220 million thus far. Mr. Turk stressed that MDC will pursue its efforts to attract further investments to MDA while seeking to capitalize on key strategic partnership opportunities.

On the other hand, Dr. Mamoun Fanek, MDC's Business Development Director, briefed the Committee on the latest developments in the four clusters of the project, including plans to build additional hangars on an area of 25.000 sqm, as well as the design of the first phase of the Industrial Park employees' residential housing that will accommodate 600 staff members.

Dr. Fanek also pointed out that the execution phase for the residential units in the Industrial Park, which uses the state-of-the-art 3D-Panel construction-technology is set to be completed shortly. In addition, Dr. Fanek affirmed that the design for the final infrastructure network of the Industrial Park and the excavation work for the first phase of the student housing within the Residential Community have both been completed.

Mr. Turk accompanied the committee on their tour to the leather-crafting and ready-mix cement factories, where the guests were impressed by the latest technologies used on these sites, such as solar energy systems. Mr. Turk explained that the city of Ma'an is renowned for its high levels of sunlight, which encouraged MDC to study a plan to set-up a research and development center for solar energy in Ma'an in cooperation with Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.

Mr. Turk indicated during the tour that:

"MDC is adamant on always reaching out to members of the community, informing them of the latest developments on the project and listening to their concerns and ideas. It is this commitment to partner with the community that encouraged MDC to set up the Information and Communication Center in Ma'an, where visitors can catch a glimpse of what the future of Ma'an will look like."

Mr. Turk went on to explain that the next phase of the development of the project will witness the establishment of the Residential Community located 8 km north of downtown of Ma'an and adjacent to Al-Hussein Bin Talal University. The Residential Community will accommodate nearly 15,000 residents in various villas, apartments and dormitory facilities, including 3000 students from the nearby Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.

Consisting of four complementary clusters including a Residential Community, an Industrial Park, a Hajj Oasis, and a Skill Development Center, the Ma'an Development Area (MDA) is set to become a regional hub for industrial activity and a centre of excellence for vocational training, as well as a religious landmark for pilgrims on their way to the Holy cities, offering them the ideal environment for their rest, relaxation and prayer.

MDA will also be home to a thriving and self-sustained city providing its residents and visitors with a quality living and working environment to fulfill their ambitions.
