- PRESS RELEASE
Jumbo Electronics has donated a number of electronic items to regional charity Gulf for Good (G4G) including Sony digital and video cameras to be used by the organisation for marketing purposes.
"This generous donation will allow us to enhance our marketing initiative by creating our own photographic record of both training and challenges," he said.
"The charities we support rely on the fundraising efforts of the challengers, therefore the more people we can attract, the more money we are able to raise for the disadvantaged children of the world."
Peter McElwaine, CEO of Jumbo Electronics, said "Gulf for Good raises money for worthwhile causes by staging exciting and varied adventure challenges in really interesting parts of the world. We at Jumbo are delighted to be able to support G4G by donating to them some quality Sony still and video equipment which we hope will enable them to capture the spirit and reality of the good work that they do in support of children around the world."
Wilkie added that a perfect opportunity to use the cameras is during the 'Himalayan Panorama Adventure' in May. This 5-day trek offers challengers a rare chance to trek 70km in the foothills of the Himalayas, through terraced fields, orchards and forests, visiting ancient monasteries and meeting the local people.
"We look forward to using the equipment from Jumbo Electronics to capture the stunning Himalayan backdrop to this trek, the colourful local heritage and people and the wonderful charity work carried out in the slums of Delhi."
The funds raised will be donated to the Smile Foundation, to renovate an education and vocational skills centre and provide a mobile hospital "Smile on Wheels" for the marginalized children of the Delhi slums.
