"Providing sector 8 of EIC project with electricity is a great accomplishment that will have a positive impact on all works inside the city. Investors have already submitted their forms to provide power to the economic sectors which they have invested in, marking the launch of numerous industrial services and activities in the emirate".
Al Shakrah added, "Naturally, this excellent work was due to the cooperation and collaboration of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, who provided the project with electricity so quickly. This step is considered part of the emirate's plans to provide investors with various facilities to support the growth process, a process which has risen significantly in the last 5 years due to the emirate's sound plans and clear vision for economic development".
EIC project extends over an area of area of 83 million square feet, divided into 8 sections. 2 sections have been designated for warehouses and logistic support, which includes 4000 warehouses that can further be divided into 4000 warehouses covering an area of 20 million square feet. The other 6 sections include; Industrial investment for meeting investors' industrial needs and providing support services, commercial activity, an excellent location for company offices, permanent sales exhibitions for factories, and multi-purpose business centers with the capacity to host other activities and services.
Al Hanoo Holding has recently finished developing the infrastructure for Warehouse City with 100% completion rate, and has provided the project with all basic services, such as water and electricity grids, gas pipes and communications services, with a total cost of Dhs1bn.
Al Hanoo Holding has also set up a wide network of 25-70 meter wide paved roads to ensure easy traffic flow in the city, in addition to a network of 100 meter wide roads surrounding the city to deal with the anticipated loads of traffic and heavy duty vehicles. Phase one of development works at EIC, currently at 50%, is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2009. The Civil Defense Department has carried out the plans in a way that guarantees quick control over any sudden incident, as well as equipping the warehouses with water sprinklers, in accordance with their safety standards. Al Hanoo has awarded an Dhs400m contract to a local company to start phase one development work of Warehouses City project, located at EIC.
