Elia Nuqul Scholarship Fund students welcomed at Nuqul Group offices

The Elia Nuqul Foundation (ENF) hosted its first ENF Fellows Network meeting at Nuqul Group offices in Abdoun on Saturday, February 21, 2009 where Elia and Ghassan Nuqul welcomed ENF scholarship recipients as future "fellows" of ENF.

The Nuquls provided a presentation about ENF's activities to students, partners and ENF Board of Trustees, and emphasized the Foundation's commitment to support the students for the duration of their education.

On this occasion Mr. Elia Nuqul commented:
"Over the years, I've been dedicated to providing students with educational opportunities, and now through the establishment of the Elia Nuqul Foundation, we will continue the tradition and expand our ability to help those in need of assistance. This is a realization of my dream."

Mr. Ghassan Nuqul stressed the importance of continued collaboration between the students and ENF to cultivate a fellowship of youth that are connected to and promote ENF programs and activities.

"It is envisioned that the knowledge gained by the ENF fellows will be transferred to future scholarship candidates through such activities as mentoring and coaching, creating a network of expertise, resources and a rippling outreach affect to sustain and expand ENF's youth development activities," added Mr. Ghassan Nuqul.

In 2008, ENF signed agreements with the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development's Goodwill Campaign and Al-Aman Fund to provide underprivileged youth with educational opportunities not having the financial means to pay for their education.

Ms. Deena Kalimat, ENF Director, highlighted the importance of collaboration with its partners.

"ENF is so pleased with its partnerships with the Goodwill Campaign and Al-Aman Fund. Through our partner's referrals of youth needing assistance, ENF expanded its scholarship provision to 66 students attending public universities, community colleges and vocational training centers. In addition to paying tuition fees, ENF provides stipends to students to curb the hardship of personal expenses during the duration of their education. In the future, we hope to provide access to personal development training for our fellows to enhance their employability skills," stated Ms. Kalimat.

Apart from supporting their education, ENF requires students to commit to community service activities to ensure that students not only receive a formal education, but also learn the importance of active participation in communities, ultimately cultivating the philosophy of good citizenship.
