Pavement Management Middle East 2009 is an exclusive two-day conference with four essential half-day workshops, taking place in Dubai, UAE.

Government road departments and civil aviation authorities will gather in Dubai on 30-31 March 2009 to share their latest strategies in establishing extensive new road infrastructure and managing airport expansion. Improved pavement designs and innovative construction techniques will be discussed to optimize pavement performance.

Pavement Management Middle East, the 2nd conference in this annual series, hosting contributions from 16 industry experts, provides an excellent opportunity to find solutions to the most current Pavement Management challenges and build industry partnerships that will result in mutual business growth.

Sami Amin Bakr, Pavement Specialist for the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai, says

"Pavement Management Middle East 2009 is the perfect opportunity to learn how to effectively prevent pavement deterioration, perform maintenance activities in a timely manner and consequently reduce maintenance costs and optimize allocation of the available budget."

John Lee, Highways & Transport Planning Advisor for Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, adds, "The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport is moving from conventional procurement to new, performance-based ways of managing its highway network, with the contractor held more directly accountable for its quality. The key to this is Pavement Management - optimum maintenance treatment selection achieved through modeling pavement performance under traffic load. This conference will provide useful insights into the techniques used for this, the practices of other countries and the new strategies being adopted by regional governments."

As well as acting as a forum for some of the most topical regional issues facing the industry right now, Pavement Management Middle East 2009 will also bring exclusive international experiences to attendees from across the Gulf. Hans Christian Korsgaard, Technical Manager of Grontmij Carl Bro, will provide a case study on maintaining operational efficiency throughout major new build initiatives at Billund Airport, Denmark.

Dr. Osman Abdelkader, Advisor for the Ministry of Public Works (Kuwait) will be discussing best-practices in pavement maintenance, reflecting on the lessons learned from recent pavement maintenance projects in Kuwait.

Pavement Management Middle East 2009 will bring together industry professionals for two days of high-level networking to discuss burgeoning challenges including managing increased air traffic and rapid population growth by optimizing pavement performance.
