The TV crew, accompanied by representatives from the SCTDA, toured Sharjah, taking in sites that included the Sharjah museums and heritage areas, as well as the old souqs, with particular focus on Souq Al Arsah, one of the oldest and most popular souqs in the UAE. The tour also included a visit to the impressive Qanat Al Qasba, Sharjah's entertainment and cultural hub.
The guests paid a visit to the Al Hisn fort, where they enjoyed its unique historical architecture, and documented the popular tourist site, which demonstrates a unique aspect of Sharjah's rich cultural heritage. The tour also included visits to Bait Al Naboodah, which depicts the traditional local domestic architecture, the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, which displays impressive examples of vintage Arab-Islamic architecture, and the emirate's shopping malls, including the Sahara Center and the Central Souq, which is a prominent tourist landmark.
The SCTDA set aside a whole day to visit the Eastern region of the emirate, where the delegation enjoyed the beautiful natural surroundings and the spectacular Khorfakkan beach. In the last day of the visit, the Authority organized a Safari trip to allow the German guests to experience the desert environment in the UAE and Sharjah.
H.E. Mohamed A. Al Noman, SCTDA Director General, affirmed the SCTDA's dedication to hosting media delegations and TV representatives from all over the world so as to introduce Sharjah's tourist products to the international markets, and referenced the desire of various media sources to visit the emirate and highlight the existing tourist and business attractions.
He said:
"There is no doubt that media plays a vital role in promoting all tourist destinations worldwide. As we are aware of this role, we always strive to host Arab and international media representatives in Sharjah, and to introduce to them our tourism attractions and the ideal business climate that has ensured the emirate's prominent position on the international business and tourism map."
Al Noman added that the growth in the number of European tourists visiting Sharjah over the last few years, particularly German tourists, reflects the importance of the SCTDA's presence in the European and German travel and tourism market through audio, visual, and printed media, as well as its participation in premier tourist events and the promotional initiatives that it has launched to promote the emirate as a top tourist destination.
The German TV delegation praised Sharjah's tourist attractions, which combine ancient sites with modern life, and they expressed a desire to convey this exciting picture to the business and tourist communities in Germany. The documentary film made by the delegation will be broadcast by German TV shortly.
