HP Communications and Media Solutions (HP CMS) consolidates all of the company's telecom and digital content management software with industry-specific professional services capabilities, and extends the company's well-recognized leadership in the communications & media industries.

The new unit was created to accelerate solution development and streamline the delivery of solutions, in order to help communications and media industry customers compete more effectively in a fast-changing market.

HP CMS brings to market complete solutions - deployed with consulting and integration services - that are designed to meet industry requirements. As complexity increases, customers need comprehensive solutions that are built with the right mix of both software and services. HP CMS solutions incorporate HP software intellectual property, global services capabilities, hardware platforms and storage assets, as well as contributions from a large partner community.

Residing within the HP Software and Solutions business, HP CMS incorporates the resources of the HP Communications, Media and Entertainment (CME) unit, the HP OpenCall business unit, and the global CME consulting and integration practices.

"HP CMS is a solutions powerhouse that can help service providers reduce cost and risk, while still growing revenue by tapping the demand for human connections,"

said Erwan Menard, vice president and general manager, Communications and Media Solutions, HP.

"Our telecom and media customers will see more innovation, faster deployment, and more flexibility in the way they take advantage of HP solutions and services." Erwan Menard added.

Telecoms must bring to market hundreds of new voice and multimedia services that provide a personalized customer experience. Media companies are digitizing their entertainment assets and must adapt to a changing supply chain that involves multiple delivery channels and burgeoning growth of end-user devices. Both types of companies need to evolve their networks and related operations and business support systems (OSS and BSS).

To help customers address complex needs, HP CMS provides not only advanced software technology, but also customized consulting and integration services. The balance of the two is needed to deploy complete solutions that meet specific business or operational needs.

For products, HP CMS solutions teams draw on internal research and development, partner assets and intellectual property gained from customer engagements. For professional services, HP CMS is structured to capture methods and best practices from all customer engagements around the world - so that the portfolio of expertise is enhanced for other customers.

HP CMS fast-tracks solutions to customers
HP CMS delivers a full portfolio of solutions aligned to the business requirements of telecom and media companies. There are four solutions domains within HP CMS, each of which focuses on a specific set of customer needs:

- Service Delivery Infrastructure and Applications - core network solutions, mobility management, call control, device management, service-oriented-architecture-based service delivery platforms to enable third-party developers and Web 2.0 alignment, subscriber data management, and personalized voice, data and video services.

- Next Generation OSS - service fulfillment including order management and provisioning, service assurance including integrated fault and performance management, and end-to-end service quality management.

- Customer Intelligence and Billing - mediation and real-time charging, data retention and management, and HP CentralView solutions for fraud management, revenue assurance and dealer management.

-Digital Media - digital content management and distribution, as well as storage for media companies.

To help customers manage cost and risk, HP CMS is leveraging the company's recent acquisition of EDS. With EDS' outsourcing expertise and global portfolio, HP can offer service providers and media companies new flexibility in the ways they deploy solutions. They can utilize the HP CMS solutions on an outsourced basis, as managed services or deployed as in-house solutions.
