    Receiving the award.
Barclays was presented with the award during a ceremony held in Emirates Towers this week. The ceremony was attended by the leading global, regional and local banks operating in the Middle East.

"I would like thank all our customers who have voted for us and have made this award possible. Receiving this award is a great accolade indicating the success of our multiple marketing campaigns geared towards serving our retail customer needs. Continuing with same spirit of innovation, Barclays hopes to scoop further achievements in 2009."

said Michael Miebach, Managing Director of Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Banking in the Middle East and North Africa.

There were multiple nominations from global and regional banks for the category of "Best Retail Marketing Campaign" - these were first short listed by panel of experts and the general public voted online to determine the winner.

Barclays UAE launched its retail services in mid 2007. During 2008 Barclays drove the franchise to a record growth with a variety of successful, highly visible and effective brand and product focused campaigns. Barclays was also the title sponsor of Barclays Dubai Tennis championship in 2008.

The year 2008 started with the first Barclays Dubai Tennis Championship (BDTC) campaign. The first phase the campaign was focused on the Barclays brand and its positioning as well as establishing the BDTC identity and logo.

In 2008, Barclays successfully executed multiple marketing campaigns for premier banking, payment cards, loans, mortgages and liability businesses.

The Banker Middle East Product Awards ceremony is held on an annual basis and awards are given out to multiple categories such as retail, commercial, brokerage and investment banking.
