  • PRESS RELEASE

Epson has announced the Middle East launch of a new A4 scanner, developed specifically for the business scanner market.

The new GT-1500 flatbed scanner is designed to be the perfect solution for de-centralized scanning in large corporations as well as SMEs looking for speed and economy from their scanning solution.

Equipped with features including a 40 page auto document feeder (ADF) to scan up to 18 pages per minute (ppm) in colour and up to 12 ppm with extensive features including RGB colour drop out, auto de-skew, auto page size detection, text enhancement technology and Searchable PDF, Epson Scan 3.4 saves users the cost of investing in expensive imaging software and offers an effortless efficiency increase without compromising ease of use.

The GT-1500 incorporates Epson Ready Scan technology, which means there is no warm up time and the scanner is ready to function as soon as it is switched on.

This capability is made possible with the use of LED lamp technology - a first for business scanners. The use of LED technology also means the scanner uses up to 40% less energy than other scanners, saving users money and helping to protect the environment at no extra cost.

Thanks to the scanner's innovative, fully customisable control panel, Twain and ISIS driver support which enables users to automatically send scanned documents to any destination including ftp folders, document management applications or email addresses, the GT-1500 can be seamlessly integrated into any electronic document management process.

This combined with the scanner's high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity makes the GT-1500 the ideal choice for ISVs and VARs looking to incorporate a high performance scanner into their solution offering.

In addition to offering best-in-class functionality and value, Epson also provides industry-leading software bundles for improved document imaging processing and productivity. The GT-1500 model is bundled with Epson Event Manager 2.0, Presto Page Manager 8 and ABBYY Fine Reader Sprint.

Khalil El Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said:
"With the launch of the GT-1500, Epson is bringing the advantages of its imaging technology to the A4 market, having achieved leadership position in the A3 EMEA business scanner market. The GT-1500 model offers many of the advanced functionalities generally associated with high level scanners without compromising on ease of use. In addition, the small footprint makes the new business scanner model ideal for scanning all paperwork including archiving and for integration into document management solutions. The GT-1500's combination of performance and cost efficiency means it offers the best value for money in the actual general office flatbed scanner market."
