To provide children and their families the unique road safety theme experience, the Museum has been animated into a highway, fully decorated with road signs, zebra crossings and a highway track.
Children will have to learn to navigate around the Museum with guidance from Mr. Stop, the Museum policeman who will ensure that all road safety procedures are being followed. Visitors can also meet the scooter rider who may get in trouble for not riding safely. The overall experience incorporates positive road safety habits and discussions, recognition for community helpers such as police officers, school patrols, etc. as well as an appreciation for road signs appropriate for pedestrians, vehicle drivers and cyclists.
Enhancing children's creativity, scientific aptitude, problem solving skills and civil competence, the Museum also provides various themed activities held in the Art Studio, Library and around the Exhibit Hall. The library will hold storytelling sessions for children while the Art Studio will be transformed into "Inspiration Street" where children can paint and decorate a car among other art activities. And Exhibit Hall supplementary activities will introduce concepts of motion to children by studying gears and spinners; expanding on the Museum's scientific and educational activities.
Nissreen Haram, Director of The Children's Museum commented regarding the program,
"Road Safety is a fantastic topic for children to discover. They become immersed in their social responsibilities and experience appreciation for civil service officers. And most importantly, by providing children with an opportunity to experience the benefits and consequences of following road signs and regulations, we are molding a safer community of drivers in the future."
