The new facility will enhance the company's presence in the region by providing a centralized office that caters to and supports the tremendous long-term growth potential in the area. The office will be located in Beirut and will manage operational functions in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and the Palestinian territories.

The office will play a vital role in ensuring that Nokia's growing customer base in the Levant markets has access to Nokia's mobile telecommunications technologies and to the expertise that supports them. The office will also reinforce the excellent relationships that Nokia has already forged with the local market over the last several years.

"Our presence here in Lebanon, like in other country offices we have recently opened throughout this Region, means we can really understand the needs of businesses and individuals, so we can select the right and most appropriate services and products for the country." said Chris Braam - Vice President Sales, Nokia Middle East and Africa. "The new Lebanon office, like others around the world, will stay true to Nokia's vision of bringing mobility to all and in connecting people wherever they are and whoever they may be."

Haisam Jamal, General Manager- Levant said of the occasion, "Nokia's new office in Beirut shows Nokia's commitment to Lebanon and the Levant region. The Levant region consists of 5 markets: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and the Palestinian territories with a total population of 60 to 65 million. If we look at the mobile telecommunications industry in this area, the Nokia Levant hub in Beirut today services the 35 million mobile subscribers, the majority of which are Nokia users and this via its vast network of distributors and partners. Nokia is also investing in personnel and local offices to ensure long-term support for these markets."

"Nokia's objective in Lebanon is first and foremost to work in the best interest of consumers and to protect them against all the frauds they have been enduring for the last period." He added. "Top priorities include protecting our consumers from counterfeit products, ensuring that Nokia products and services are covered with the top level of warranty, and that local after sales services are up to Nokia standards. We are working very closely with the local stakeholders such as the operators, official authorities, and distribution partners to make sure that concrete actions are taken on the ground to make these objectives happen."
