HSBC Bank Middle East CEO named "Best Emiratisation CEO" at 11th National Career Fair

HSBC Bank Middle East CEO, Youssef Nasr, received recently the "Best Emiratisation CEO" award from Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial studies.

The awards are part of the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) continued endeavors to promote its ambitious Emiratisation strategies within the financial sector.

The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership and insight over the last three years in order to guide his organization to a new level of integration, growth and recognition for Emarati employees.

In accepting this award His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Youssef Nasr, thanked the EIBFS Human Resources Development Committee and acknowledged the work of the Bank's committed and passionate HR team. With over 1,100 Emaratis employed in the bank currently, HSBC has the highest number of Emaratis in any international or local bank today.

Speaking at the event, Youssef Nasr said:
"I am extremely honored to receive this award. HSBC is proud to support the UAE Government's mandate to progressively nationalize the workforce in the banking sector."


"Our goal is to achieve above and beyond the government's Emiratisation targets. We look to be innovative in our strategies in order to ensure that we remain the employer of choice for and the 'Best Place to Work' for the very best Emirati talent. We have made extensive investment in training, development and recruitment of such talent in this market," he added.

Youssef Nasr was nominated by peers and selected based on extensive research on their work and achievements in the past three years.

The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) was established in 1983. It has been directing its efforts towards upgrading the knowledge and skills of banking professionals, as well as in creating a pool of UAE nationals capable of pursuing careers in the banking and financial sector.

• In HSBC over 800 UAE nationals are at the top and middle management level.
• HSBC's 8 branches are managed by UAE nationals, two of which are females.
• In 2007, more UAE nationals were promoted to Middle Management (611 in 2007 vs 374 in 2006)
