Microsoft announced its participation in Umniah's training center this year, as it will provide a "Train the Trainer (TOT)" course to enrich the team of volunteers' training expertise, in addition to supplying the Center with all the materials and tools necessary for the courses. The courses will also include Microsoft Office 2007 applications, as well as the possibility of obtaining Microsoft programs at special prices. The training courses, which will be conducted by a team of volunteers from Umniah, will continue for two consecutive weeks.
On this occasion, Umniah's CEO, Mr. Joseph Hanania, said:
"We, at Umniah, shoulder the responsibility of launching programs and initiatives on a working level and for the greater good of the community. We are proud to be launching our UCCT initiative again, which falls in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision to spread computer literacy in the Kingdom. As active members of this community, we always feel it is our duty to contribute to developmental programs which support the local economy."
He also added, "I would like to extend my thanks to our employees who enthusiastically volunteered, putting in great time and effort to help us realize our goal by giving training courses to the trainees. We insisted on launching this initiative once again, due to the successes it has achieved, and stemming from our belief in the importance of spreading electronic knowledge among the members of Jordanian society, as free computer courses will be given to all strata who hope to improve their work skills and advance their professional experience, and so upgrade quality standards and mechanisms."
From his end, Mr. Zeid Shbeilat, the Country Manager of Microsoft Jordan, commented on the partnership with Umniah, saying, "We are pleased to join forces with Umniah in this initiative which has proved its effectiveness and success since its launch last year. Microsoft strives, through participating in such constructive programs which are in accordance with its vision, to contribute to the promotion of electronic knowledge and culture. With this in mind, Microsoft devoted human and financial resources to help this alliance achieve its goals, and to serve the local community with the aim of enhancing its information technology knowledge and capabilities."
From another angle, a graduate from the UCCT pointed out that this course improved his computer skills and enhanced his practical experience, and said, "I participated in this course to raise my hands-on capabilities and boosting my self-confidence. I would like to thank Umniah for this generous gesture and providing the opportunity for citizens to join the Center and make use of these courses, especially considering that the computer has now become a basic necessity in all spheres of life."
It is worth noting that trainees will receive a certificate from Umniah and Microsoft after concluding the course.
