Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) organised an event with the theme of Peace and Hope on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
Doves were set free as a symbolic gesture of peace at the event.
Dr Wafi Dawood, KHDA's Chief of Organisational Excellence addressed the audience followed by a talk by Dr Suleiman Al Fahim, UN's Goodwill Ambassador for peace. He brought to light the current situation of peace across the world and the importance of focusing on the same.
KHDA supports and encourages peace as a means to ensure human development and growth. It offers individuals the opportunity to go beyond their means and participate productively as members of the society. Majid Al Osaimi, Executive Director at Dubai Club for Special Sports, also attended the event to share some interesting success stories with the audience.
An exhibition cum sale of artwork by students with special needs was held afterwards. Proceeds from the sale were donated to the Dubai Rehabilitation Center.
