The conference was part of Nestlé's continuous efforts, building the science and technologies to resolve diseases related to poor nutrition, and was held in cooperation with the Egyptian Medical Association of Studying Obesity.

This annual event traditionally provides informative knowledge in the areas of obesity, associated health complications, treatment, and proper nutrition. This year's conference focused on updating Egyptian physicians & dieticians with the latest information regarding obesity and the health dangers it renders. Popular topics included the globally growing problem of obesity among men and women of all ages and social standards.

Speaking at the conference, Ms Amany Zaher - General Manager of Nutrition and Health Unit at Nestlé Egypt - commented:
"the biggest issue that we are currently facing is child obesity, which is growing at an alarming rate, due to the availability of developed technologies in our daily lives, which negates the importance of physical activity, along with the widespread fast-food chains. Nestlé is keen on spreading awareness of the issue among specialists, as well as the public."

At the event, Dr. Ahmed Bebars - conducted a lecture on the importance of a balanced healthy nutrition, and the long term effects of a person's diet on their general health and well being, as well as explaining Nestlé's role in fighting obesity, a condition that leads to numerous health complications including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, in addition to the predisposition to some tumors.

He added: "Nestlé offers a wide variety of products, rich in taste and highly nutritious all at once, which aid proper growth and the maintenance of a healthy weight, helping our consumers to be - always - at their best!"

Nestlé's conference sponsorship is one among numerous health awareness activities. In addition, Nestlé sponsors "Be At Your Best" - the health section on the renowned TV show "90 Minutes" of El Mehwar channel - airing Sunday and Tuesday evenings.

The section discusses the various health issues that interest the Egyptian public, and offers helpful suggestions with the assistance of nationally acclaimed health specialists.
