- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, February 28 - 2009 at 12:44
- PRESS RELEASE
Al Islami Foods, a leading halal food producer in the region, has signed an agreement with Sharjah Cooperative Society to set up meat shops at the Sharjah Coop retail outlets.
"Despite global recession, the Gulfood exhibition this year has marked another success for Al Islami, which attracted an increased number of serious trade enquiries as compared to the last year. This is due to the reason that food business is the least affected sector of economy during the current financial crisis," commented Saleh Abdullah Lootah, the CEO of Al Islami Foods.
"We are proud to partner with Sharjah Cooperative Society, which shares our vision. This partnership allows us to provide high quality meat directly to the consumers. The tie up underscores the success of Al Islami's business strategy for the UAE market in line with company's 5-year expansion plan into local and international markets," added Saleh Lootah.
Saeed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Cooperative Society expressing his gratitude towards Al Islami said, "We are glad that AI Islami has chosen us to expand their meat shop business entity. We thank Al Islami for their solid trust posed to Sharjah Coop and extend warm welcome to start of a long-term partnership."
Sourced directly from Australia, Brazil, India, Pakistan and Egypt under the supervision of Al Islami's food experts designated in these countries, fresh and real halal veal, beef, chicken and mutton would be available at AI Islami Meat Shops present at major supermarkets across the UAE by 2008.
In a short span of time, Al Islami Meat Shop network has expanded to total 11 branches in the UAE. The company has plans to double this number in 2009. The growing demand for Al Islami fresh and frozen meat has encouraged company to expand its meat shop network across the UAE.

About Al Islami Foods:Established as CO-OP Islami in 1981 to cater to the growing demand for halal food in the Arab world, AL Islami Foods was formed as a result of the long relentless efforts commenced in the early seventies when Hajj Saeed Bin Ahmad Lootah instituted Dubai Co-operative Society.
Starting with its successful frozen chicken product line, CO-OP ISLAMI further expanded its operations to include processed meat.
In 1991, Dubai Co-operative Society's efforts were culminated by establishing its 'CO-OP Islami' meat processing plant in Jebel Ali Free Zone. This plant is considered a recognizable breakthrough as it became the highly active producer of a variety of food products under the name 'CO-OP Islami'.
In 2006, CO-OP Islami was re-launched as AL ISLAMI in an effort to propel the company to new heights of success. Now, Al Islami products are considered as a quality benchmark trusted by consumers across the UAE and the GCC, and this has made it one of the best and most preferred brands in the region.
