Looking to establish stronger business ties between Dubai and Singapore, Jafza's Senior Vice President of Sales, Ibrahim Al Janahi and other Jafza representatives attended the Dubai Means Business Commerce Seminar in Singapore recently.

Commenting on the trade opportunities between two of the world's fastest growing economies, Ibrahim Al Janahi, stated that since both Dubai and Singapore are well-developed and successful free-market economies with many similarities, there is potential for further mutual cooperation between the two nations.

According to Dubai World's Statistics Department, Dubai's non-oil trade with Singapore including free zone and customs warehouse trade reached Dhs8.48bn at the end of 2008 with imports touching Dhs6.11bn and exports over Dhs1.42bn.

This initiative organised by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Far East Office and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry focuses on building awareness of the investment opportunities existing in Dubai to foreign companies, who wish to expand commercial operations into the Middle East and further. Dubai and in particular Jafza, one of the fastest growing free zones in the world, is the trade and distribution hub for the wider Middle East region comprising West and South Asia, Africa and the CIS.

Speaking about Jafza's strong track record, Al Janahi said:
"One of the main reasons why investors choose Jafza as their hub is not only the package of incentives, services and logistics infrastructure we offer, but also the fact that we offer security and an excellent return on investments. This security takes on a renewed urgency and relevance in today's uncertain global economic times. Companies need to know they have a trustworthy and solid partner in us and they find that we deliver consistently on that front, despite market challenges."

"Singapore and Dubai's economic and operational structure are quite similar. The two city-states have witnessed a growth in bilateral trade and commercial cooperation which we hope expands into something even bigger in the future," added Al Janahi.

The Dubai Means Business seminar, attended by prominent businesses and entrepreneurs in Singapore serves as an ideal networking platform for business communities of both countries to express and exchange views with the objective to enhance and develop partnerships and alliances in various industrial sectors.
