Marmum Dairy has imported 175 high-quality heifers from Australia, bringing its total herd strength to 3,500, of which 2000 are milch cows. The new import is expected to boost the company's annual milk production by 1.8 million litres.

"With demand for high-quality dairy products in the UAE expected to go up considerably during the summer, Marmum is moving quickly to boost its production rate in order to adequately respond to market requirements," said S R K Raju, General Manager of Marmum Dairy Farm.

"Our new batch of high-yielding heifers will add significant value to the Marmum herd with their superior genetics, physical characteristics and milk component traits. The move to import heifers is also part of our strategy to improve milk volumes by investing in cows with high average milk production in order to offset rising feed costs."

Raju added.

Marmum Dairy is also upgrading the infrastructure at the company's dairy farm, having recently implemented the advanced Korral Kool cow cooling system to ensure the cows enjoy a comfortable ambience during the hot summer months. Korral Kool is the world's leading cow cooling system.

The Marmum herd currently produces on average 30 litres a day per cow, an exceptional production rate for this part of the world. Marmum adopts a superior feeding system where the cows are fed top-quality fodder comprised of varied ingredients, and herd health is constantly governed through the monitoring of blood metabolites.

Marmum Dairy is one of the largest dairy farms in the UAE with an annual production of 20 million litres. It is the only dairy farm of its kind in the UAE with sewerage treatment plant that ensures pure, environmentally clean air.

Marmum Dairy boasts a diverse portfolio of milk, cream and yoghurt products available in more than 2,500 outlets across the UAE.
