Sharjah Islamic Bank expands range of 'The Dirham of Good' service through its ATM machines

In the course of ensuring community partnerships, and the great interest in humanitarian duty towards the society, alongside contributing to the support of charitable activities, Sharjah Islamic Bank and Sharjah Charity International have recently launched their new joint venture entitled 'The Dirham of Good'.

The celebration took place in a simple ceremony at the main branch of the bank in the city of Sharjah, in the presence of a number of officials from Sharjah Islamic Bank and Sharjah Charity International.

In the forefront of the attendees was Abdulla Mubarak Al Dukhan, General and Director of Sharjah Charity International, Mohamed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, Mohammed Al Jowder Manager of Sharjah Charity International and Qassem Al Baloushi, Head of E-Channels in SIB, and, Hassan Al-Balgoni, Head of PR & Media Division in SIB.

Mohammed Abdalla said that "The Dirham of Good" adopted by Sharjah Islamic Bank, is designed to enable customers to contribute to the support of charitable activities of the Sharjah Humanitarian Association, through putting the option of choosing to donate Dhs1 only, during the process of withdrawing cash from any Sharjah Islamic Bank ATM machine, where more than a hundred machine is deployed throughout various commercial districts in the UAE.

The CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank has emphasized on the keen interest of the bank's Board of Directors to overcome the functions of the tradition banking services in the care of the business and interests to contribute actively in community service and humanitarian duty towards certain segments of the society which is affected by the economic difficulties, adding that the bank is trying to achieve this vital goal, through the support of many institutions and associations that provide humanitarian services, alongside cooperating with them to enforce the Bank's strategy and vision of social and humanitarian obligations to the communities, which always aim to support the good efforts that seek to achieve an interdependent and coherent community through acknowledging the bank as an integral part of the society.

From his side, Abdulla Mubarak Al Dukhan thanked the Board of Directors of Sharjah Islamic Bank and its Executives for their initiative in supporting the humanitarian projects of the Sharjah Charity International through "The Dirham of Good" across all the bank's ATMs, and stated that this initiative is not new to the bank which has never hesitated in providing all forms of humanitarian and charity support, adding that the donation of Dhs1 may not represent any value for the donor, but it is of high value in the charitable work of the Sharjah Humanitarian Association. We still remember in the Assembly that we have been able to accomplish the completion of many projects such as the palace of hope, through voluntary contributions, which always starts from a Dirham. As once our has stated Prophet in the Holy Quran. Al Dukhan also indicated that the Board of Directors looks forward to continuing & developing this fruitful relationship, with Sharjah Islamic Bank in order to do more successful charitable and humanitarian projects, which contribute to help the needy and the destitute, and all vulnerable groups of the society.

For his part Qassem Al Baloushi, Head E-Channels in Sharjah Islamic Bank explained that the new system, which was inaugurated in the service of "The Dirham of Good" works immediately after the introduction of ATM card in any of the Sharjah Islamic Bank ATM machines, where it offers the option of deducting the amount, Al Baloushi also added that the designation of the service in its new form is based on the support of the good which is one of the most lofty values underlying the concept of Islamic banking.
