Alpha Aviation Academy first to launch exclusive 'MPL' pilot training program in the Gulf
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, March 05 - 2009 at 14:28
- PRESS RELEASE
The Alpha Aviation Academy (AAA) has received clearance from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for the commencement of its classes from February 2009.
Established in Sharjah, the AAA is part of the Alpha Aviation Group's global network of international Academies and has been modeled on their existing international standards of providing excellence in the skies.
The Academy will provide specialized training for pilots, cabin crew and other aviation personnel. Particularly noteworthy is the training program for airline pilots under the new ICAO Multi-crew Pilot License (MPL) which is the most advanced training program in the world and takes applicants with no prior flying experience through a rigorous training program, to emerge as professional Jet airline pilots in approximately 14 months.
Most aviation courses train on small single-engine airplanes that enable one to get a Commercial Pilot License, but fall short on the skills and qualifications needed to fly present day highly sophisticated commercial jets. As the aviation industry evolves, the training programs must be reflective of this and the MPL course is at the forefront of addressing this change through providing relevant hands-on training through its use of advanced simulators and Jet training in a specialized airline environment. The MPL course is the first of its kind which allows individuals to enter the aviation field with a solid career path ahead of them and also offers mid-level professionals from other fields, the opportunity for a career change.
It is a distinct honor for AAA to be able to provide this program as there are currently no similar programs within the Middle East that cater to new-comers. Having gained clearance to start the MPL course, the AAA is the first in the region to do so and thus has firmly established itself in a league of its own. Moreover, all training programs that are on offer at the AAA are supplemented through the latest in-classroom technology, devised by Oxford Aviation Academy in the UK.
Mr. Mustafa Ali GM of the Alpha Aviation Academy said, "The Gulf region has emerged as a hub for air travel and we feel the region would benefit greatly from the experience that we can bring to the table. The aviation sector is rapidly increasing and the AAA will help facilitate this growth from within, through extending our global expertise to this region and effectively serving the needs of this sector."
"We are passionate about creating a network of global training centers and providing the best training to the young people of this region. This has been a long time in the planning and we are proud to be the first in the Middle East to provide MPL training and especially, the fact that once a cadet graduates from our MPL program, they are fully competent and qualified to join an airline with no further training," he added.
His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) also shared his views, "We have great confidence in the abilities of the AAA and have granted them approval for the launch of their MPL program. We recognize the changing demands of the times and especially the need to provide the latest and most relevant training methodology for aviation professionals. I am sure that AAA will prove themselves to be a great value addition."
