  • PRESS RELEASE

Babyshop, the foremost regional retailer and one stop shop for children's items will be launching its 'Child Safety First" (CSF) initiative in the month of March.

As a pure community project, the initiative focuses on awareness building and solution providing. The Annual month long program has now entered its fourth year with plans to reach a wider audience and offer an increasing number of solutions on various safety aspects necessary for your child.

Rahul Saxena, marketing manager of Babyshop feels that as a corporate member, it bears responsibility toward the quality of life of both parents and children in society. Keeping this aim in mind, CSF helps parents identify areas of possible hazards for their children. By highlighting issues and providing solutions in the form of adequate precautions, Babyshop feels it is fulfilling its duty toward society in its own humble way.

"The Babyshop CSF is a community driven program with a genuine concern for children's safety at its very heart. One of the areas of concern is car safety where we wish to spread the message that seatbelts, child car safety seats and booster seats can save lives. Parents want the best for their children but statistics show they often unwittingly put them at risk when installing car seats in the family vehicle in the wrong way. Research indicates that a properly installed child car seat can help prevent up to 75 per cent of injuries and deaths that result from vehicle collisions. I urge every parent and guardian to make sure children are properly secured in their child car safety seat."

As part of the effort, Babyshop's safety booklet provides insights into the different kinds of car seats available and how these can be installed correctly in different vehicles having different interior designs. This renders easy the challenging task of proper installation. Graco, a global brand name manufacturing car seats has taken a lead in Babyshop's CSF program this year.

This year, Babyshop's CSF program has expanded to cover play time highlighting possible dangers during such activity. To this end, Babyshop will be distributing parent friendly booklets to every parent who visits Babyshop during the month long initiative. The booklet covers different scenarios of child safety at home, in the car and on the road and contains pearls of wisdom in the form of precautions and solutions when the safety of a child is at risk. It also advises safety precautions while a child is asleep at home, urging parents to make their home a safe haven.

Child safety kits and tools for home have been outlined in the safety booklet. These include knee protectors for crawling babies, Finger Pinch Guards that protect toddlers' and babies' hands from being crushed in door hinges, corner cushions that soften the sharp edges on certain furniture, secure lock bed rails which prevent children from rolling off their beds. There are several handy kits available for securing cabinets, drawers, refrigerators that prevent children from opening these and exposing themselves to dangerous items or situations.

During the CSF month, Babyshop stores will feature special focal areas where equipment such as car seats and other child safety gadgets will be prominently displayed. Shop windows will be treated similarly. This display exercise will bring the child safety issue to the fore and parents will begin to think along those lines.

"With greater distractions provided by modern lifestyle, child safety is an issue that sometimes takes a backseat in our busy lives becoming a part of the parent procrastination syndrome. However, Babyshop stores will spotlight the issue prominently and drive home the point," added Saxena.

Last year, the initiative, ran along similar lines, resulting in positive customer feedback as reported by store managers across the region. Parents welcomed the safety booklet and the concern that Babyshop demonstrated toward their customers and little patrons.

Concluded Saxena:
"The goodwill of our customers is only a bonus for us because our primary objective is children's safety and we hope that our awareness building initiative reaches a wider audience influencing them to take adequate measures and precautions before it is too late."
