MSE 2009 is being organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the national trade promotion organisation of Malaysia, which has 39 offices across the world including in Dubai and Jeddah.
The exhibition will bring together over 200 service providers from 13 industry clusters, aiming to expand their coverage into the vibrant and emerging markets in the Middle East, North Africa and CIS. Each cluster is made up of companies and organisations with world-class capabilities in their respective service segment and proven expertise in international operations.
Key franchisers participating in MSE 2009 will include Daily Fresh Foods, Marry Brown Fried Chicken, 1901 Hotdog, Forest Secret Sdn Bhd and Smart Reader Worldwide.
Announcing the event, Noraslan Hadi Abdul Kadir, Trade Commissioner of Malaysia in Dubai, said that MSE 2009 is a timely response to the prevailing global economic climate and the overwhelming needs of growth in the Middle East and its surrounding regions.
"There is an overwhelming need for premium professional services in the Middle East since the region has set out on an ambitious path of growth and diversification. Malaysia has an international reputation for services that offer substantial advantage in terms of quality, cost and expertise. Hence, strong partnerships between Malaysia and the Middle East in the services sector will be not only logical but also the most durable,"
stated Abdul Kadir.
The participation of the franchise cluster at MSE 2009 is co-ordinated by the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (MeCD), Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad.
Malaysia recognised franchising as one of its key growth areas almost 15 years ago and today the country has 363 franchise systems of which 223 are home-grown while 131 are foreign franchises. Reflecting a steadily expanding portfolio, Malaysian franchises operate internationally in diverse sectors such as education, fashion, footwear, food and beverages, hotels, eye care, beauty and healthcare and travel services.
"Although food and beverages constitute the biggest share of Malaysian franchise operations with 34.5%, non-food sectors have increased their share in recent years. MSE 2009 will showcase the scope and strength of Malaysian franchising as it stands today and offer networking opportunities towards bringing more variety and brand excellence to retail and other services in the Middle East," Abdul Kadir added.
Organisers have also drawn up a parallel programme of industry workshops, presentations and seminars lead by industry captains to maximise avenues for networking and familiarisation at MSE 2009.
MSE 2009 follows the success of the inaugural Malaysia Services Exhibition held at Sharjah Expo in 2008. Other industry clusters represented at MSE 2009 are: construction, engineering, financial services, healthcare and hospital-related services, ICT, oil & gas, education and specialised training, energy and power generation, logistics and transportation, professional services, design and art.
MSE 2009 will be held at the West Hall of Dubai Airport Expo with entry for visitors open from
1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first day and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the following days. There will be cultural performances and fashion shows from 8 p.m. onwards on all three days of the event.
