Mr. Willy Ribbe, Area General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is pleased to anounce the promotion of Mr. Ramez Riad to Area Director of Engineering.
"I am honored to be selected for this position. I look forward to doing my best in order to ensure that the projects for both hotels are thouroughly completed with proper utilization of both human and technical resources. I believe that every challenge is achievable. Through commitment and great team work, succes will prevail," says Mr. Ramez Riad.
Mr. Riad holds a Bachelor Degree in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture from Alexandria University of Egypt. He started his engineering career at Coral Beach Resort, Hurghada, Egypt in 1991 as Chief Engineer. During his 5 years of diligent service, Ramez led an engineering team of thirteen team members and developed and implemented a variety of technical and stuctural developments for the resort. He also helped modify the Statement of Operating Standards for the engineering department in order to ensure easy implementation.
Mr. Riad then moved to West Africa where he took up appointment with Hilton Hotel as the Technical Director in Yaounde, Cameroun. In the summer of 2000, he tranferred to Mauritius with Hilton Mauritius Resort and Spa also as Technical Director. Here, Ramez assumed the responsibility of creating the design and construction of infrastructures for the hotel through partnering with local consulting engineers, architects, and contractors.
After one year at Hilton Mauritius, Mr Ramez moved to the Middle East where he joined Hilton Bahrain, again as Technical Director. He helped the hotel to actualize all pending projects, initiated cost effective control systems and evaluated work methods and procedures through technical audits. This resulted in a 20% cut in the engineering departmental overhead expenses.
"Mr. Riad exemplifies loyalty in his work. He has succeeded in proving that he is capable of taking the engineering department to greater heights, even in the most critical condition and with limited available resources," says Willy Ribbe, Area General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha.
Ramez took up appointment with The Ritz-Carlton, Doha as Director of Engineering in 2005. He has since been pioneering several engineering projects such as improving the hotel's laundry equipment and setting up the framework for a strictly regulated maintenance culture for laundry. This has led to an improvement in the quality of laundry services that are rendered to guests.
Ramez has also carried out the refurbishment of all 374 rooms in the hotel by facilitating the introduction of new digital technology such as installation of digital LCD screen televisions, wireless internet connection and cutting edge interior furnishings for the guest rooms. Ramez's promotion to Area Director of Engineering came as a result of his expertise and breadth of knowledge that he has exhibited as well as his dedication and commitment to the hotel since his appointment as Engineering Director at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha in August, 2005.
Soaring 115 meters above Qatar's sea and desert landscape, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is an impressive symbol of the nation's emergence as a destination for travelers to the Middle East. The 374-room, five star hotel, fuses contemporary styling with classic Arabic and European design, creating a hotel with a promise of setting a new benchmark for luxury and sophistication in the region.
Located on its own exclusive island in the prestigious West Bay Lagoon district, the hotel has sweeping views, which overlook the turquoise blue waters of the Arabian Gulf.
