Bahrain City Centre hosts Children and Mothers Exhibition

Bahrain City Centre may have only been open for a few months, but the popular shopping and leisure centre is already into the values of the local community.

Its latest initiative is the Children and Mothers Exhibition, which takes place at the mall from March 8-21 and has been timed to coincide with Mothers' Day, a strategy chosen to highlight the often-taken-for-granted talents of mums.

Held under the patronage of Sheikha Hind Bint Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Children & Mothers Welfare Society and in conjunction with her organisation, Bahrain City Centre is presenting a show dedicated to the achievements of mums across the island, whether they be businesswomen, artisans or housewives.

The produce on display created or prepared by these industrious and talented women includes Arabic sweets, nuts, spices, antiques, herbal products, accessories and pottery. There is also a fascinating demonstration of the making of palm leaf paper to enjoy, with all proceeds from sales going to those in need.

It is the first time that the annual exhibition, which raises funds for charities under its umbrella, is being held outside the Children & Mothers Welfare Society's premises. The new association reflects Bahrain City Centre's contribution to the local community through its ongoing programme of social services and events.

Inaugurating the show was the Children and Mothers Welfare Society President, Sheikha Hind Bint Salman Al Khalifa, who commented:
"I am very happy to officially open the first Children and Mothers Exhibition to take place in Bahrain City Centre. I would like to thank the Centre for kindly offering to host the show and giving each participant the chance to display their many talents."

Derek Rossel, Bahrain City Centre General Manager, explained his enthusiasm for staging the event. "Bahrain City Centre is pleased to have the opportunity to present this exhibition, as we aim to become an essential part of the community," he said. "The Mother & Child Welfare Society does such sterling work in Bahrain that we couldn't turn it down. We urge everyone to come and support this wonderful initiative," he added.
