The historic cars were welcomed by Ian Robertson, Chairman of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. and Tom Purves, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, during a reception at the Pearl in Doha.

Purves commented:
"The Pearl Island is a stunning backdrop for these masterpieces of automotive engineering. The oldest entrant is from 1912 and clearly demonstrates the values of reliability, refinement and quality which remain at the core of our company ethos."

The cars will continue their tour via Abu Dhabi/UAE and Muscat/Oman before they leave the region from Dubai.

The appeal of Rolls-Royce in the Middle East remains strong and the luxury car manufacturer reported a 48% sales increase for the Phantom family in 2008 over 2007. Each car is individually hand built by highly skilled craftsmen and women at the company's headquarters and manufacturing plant at Goodwood, on the south coast of England.

The company has just unveiled a new experimental car, 200EX, at the Geneva Motor Show. The car shows a design direction for the future model series, currently named RR4, which is expected in 2010.
