Al Sorayai remains robust despite economic climate with expansion plans

Al Sorayai Carpets, the Jeddah based carpet manufacturer, this week countered global market pessimism with the announcement that it plans to expand into the Latin American market.

In a move that will raise the company's client base to over 85 countries, Al Sorayai was able to demonstrate it has successfully weathered the current economic woes and is well placed to continue the exceptional growth seen in its last 55 years of operation.

Ranked in the top 100 companies in Saudi Arabia, Al Sorayai's move represents a significant opportunity for the company to build on decades-long experience of supplying carpeting for all types of client from private customers through to government organisations, major global businesses, and world-famous public buildings and stadiums.

Speaking on the announcement of the expansion Mr Salih Al Sorayai, CEO said, "Al Sorayai has continuously demonstrated an acute ability to deliver the quality and innovation our customers require throughout our outstanding 55 year history. With the expansion announced today we aim to bring our world renowned products and exceptional track record to a wider audience, seizing on the opportunity to develop new and exciting markets. In our ongoing efforts to expand and diversify our market presence, today's announcement represents a further step towards achieving our goals and we believe the Latin American market holds significant potential for our business."

Producing more than 74 million square metres of carpet a year, Al Sorayai is the leading carpet manufacturer in the Middle East and ranked 19th globally. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia alone the company accounts for 51% of total carpet and rug production.

Built on its commitment to quality, the company was the [first] to receive the ISO 9001 rating in Saudi Arabia, and recently showcased the future of its business at Domotex 2009 in Germany, where the new range of carpets and new manufacturing techniques were on display.
