They enjoyed an intensive tour around the university's facilities, meeting with the Admission Team, professors of all fields, representatives from the university's different departments like Residence, Cultural and Sports activities, and Finance. The French Department professors explained to the students that the university offers a one-year intensive French program to prepare them to join the Licence (European Bachelor).
PSUAD Administrative director Pr. Jean-Yves de Cara and the faculty members, explained to the visitors in presentations that the Paris- Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi follows the European system of higher education, called the License-Masters-Doctorate (LMD) system. The undergraduate portion consists of a 3-year degree called a License. The graduate portion consists of a 2 year Masters Degree, followed by a multi-year Doctoral program. These degrees are accepted at any University in the European Higher Education Area.
They also added that while Abu Dhabi is growing to become the Arab World cultural centre, PSUAD serves this objective by frequently hosting cultural events within that frame. "PSUAD is a Humanities and Law university that appreciates all fields of humanities and artistic subjects. We organize international colloquia, non-degree educational courses, and seminars presented by prominent international speakers", as clarified.
Students learnt from the Admissions team that the primary requirement to apply for the University is a secondary school completion certificate with a minimum average of acceptance.
"We accept applications regardless of nationality, gender, or religion. Students will be accepted for admission on a competitive basis"
explained Ms. Anne-Marie Moreaugobard; Head of Admissions Department. Ms. Iman Sherif; Head of Admission Section added that "PSUAD offers European Bachelor, also called Licence, in Arabic Language, literature, and civilization; Archaeology and History of Arts; French and Comparative Literature; Geography and Urban Planning; History - Civilization and International Affairs; International Business and Languages; Modern Literature; Philosophy and Sociology; Information & Communication (which is only available on the 3rd year of the BA degree, and in Paris). The university also offers in coordination with Paris-Descartes University Bachelor in Law and political Sciences; and Economics and Management. This is in addition to five different Master programs".
Students learnt more about the university, and ended their visit through taking part in PSUAD's contest. Contestants were required to write an essay; in French, English or Arabic; about their impression of the university and what they had learnt so far. Winners will be announced soon based on their writing skills, and topics coverage. Several motivating prizes await the winners.
Sorbonne's Day two of the open day is expected to host students from French schools.
