Microsoft Gulf and UAE Ministry of Economy collaborate on raids against two computer resellers in UAE
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, March 10 - 2009 at 12:48
- PRESS RELEASE
Microsoft, a member of the Business Software Alliance (BSA), has announced successful anti-piracy raids by the UAE Ministry of Economy (MoE) on two computer resellers in the UAE who were allegedly found to be distributing PCs preinstalled with unlicensed software.
"This latest raid is further proof for counterfeiters that the UAE will not ease up on its anti-piracy campaign, and that the country intends to be known as an uncompromising enforcer of intellectual property rights protection. The MoE is working closely with BSA members like Microsoft to curb software piracy and we are confident that our sustained campaign will bring in the desired results," said Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Alshihhi, MoE Director General.
"We completely support this enforcement action by the MoE," said Jawad Al Redha, BSA Co-Chairman in the Gulf region. "Sustained measures to tackle software piracy are vital to property intellectual property rights and the interests of the country's IT sector as a whole."
