"ITB 2009 marks the international debut of a resort which will deliver insights into a strikingly different way of life amid evocative landscapes. This is a resort built with as much authenticity as possible whilst delivering five-star comfort in a truly memorable setting."
said Lee Tabler, CEO, TDIC.
The Anantara Resort & Spa Qasr Al Sarab has been designed in the style of the ancient forts which defended the tribes who inhabited Abu Dhabi's remote western region (Al Gharbia). Architectural authenticity has been ensured in a design where heritage preservation permeates the minutest detail.
This ultimate, multi-experiential get-away will feature a five-star hotel with 140 guestrooms, 10 Royal Pavilion villas and 42 additional villas, traditional hammam spa, a conference centre and a children's playground as well as lush landscaping complete with a water hollow where roaming Arabian oryx (gazelles) will stop to quench their thirst.
"A stay at Qasar Al Sarab will be an immersion in the culture, heritage and natural beauty of a destination that takes visitors to the very roots of Bedouin traditions," said Didier Tourneboeuf, General Manager, Anantara Resort & Spa Qasr Al Sarab.
Guests also will be able to visit a desert excursion centre, sample traditional pursuits including falconry, camel riding and excursions into the spectacular Empty Quarter desert - or taken in the breathtaking sight of some of the highest sand dunes on earth.
Qasr Al Sarab will be accessible by road and air. A private 1000 metre air strip and runway is being developed to fly visitors to this secreted destination, which lies just 90 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport and is seven kilometres from the main Hamim Highway crossing the Rub Al-Khali.
