- PRESS RELEASE
Join the Nouruz Festivities at Xennya, the Arabic restaurant at Holiday Inn Dubai on Friday, March 13, as Xennya will play host from 8pm onwards - a week ahead of Nouruz - with an elaborate Iranian buffet.
Diners will be able to indulge in a variety of specialties ranging from delicious soups and starters such as Aash-e Reshteh, Aash-e Sholeh - Ghalamkar and Kashk - Baadenjaan to mouth-watering grills and main dishes like Joojeh Kebab, Kebab Koobideh, Maahi Kebab, Meigoo Polow, Sabzi - Polow and Khoresht Ghaimeh and divine desserts like Sholeh Zard and Nan-Gerdooee.
Gilles Nicolas, Hotel Manager, Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha says, 'Nouruz, the Iranian New Year, heralds the arrival of spring and has a rich cultural significance.
The celebrations usually start days before the actual event with the family getting together to enjoy the sacred customs. We wish to give our guests a distinctive and memorable experience.'
The setting will be as lavish as the occasion. Traditional décor, candles and music will complete the scene.
Among the best-known customs of Nouruz is the haft-sin - the 'seven Ss'. These are seven objects beginning - in Persian - with the letter 'S', such as hyacinths, apples, lilies, silver coins, garlic, vinegar and rue, decoratively arranged on a table. Entertaining the guests will be an Iranian singer and violinist who is being specially brought in for the evening.
Those hungry for heritage have plenty to whet their appetite too. Xennya prides itself on its unique collection of antique Shishas sourced from around the Middle East that are beautifully displayed at the restaurant. Shisha lovers can move to the Xennya Terrace to finish the evening and indulge in their favorite flavour (charges extra).
