In his address to the large gathering, the CEO of Jumbo Electronics, Mr. Peter McElwaine lauded the efforts of the late Mr. Chhabria in creating the Jumbo brand.
"The late Mr. Chhabria's reputation as a business visionary was awesome. He was a man who knew what he wanted to achieve, and more importantly, he knew how to go about achieving his goal. His determination and strength of character meant that he started from virtually nothing, and by the time of his death he had created an organization that was a multi-billion dollar business, which spread to various parts of the world. We, the employees of Jumbo, have the responsibility to look after his great legacy."
Mr. McElwaine also praised the excellent support extended by the staff, and the part they have played in upholding the ideals of their founder.
"Inspite of the current economic situation, Jumbo remains a remarkably strong and robust organisation. We are heading for a successful end to the current financial year this month, and this is due to the hardwork put in by each one of you to make this a reality. The fantastic group of people working for this organisation is a key reason why we have been successful so far, and I am confident that under the guidance of Mrs. Chhabria, our Chairperson, we will emerge a stronger and fitter organization to meet the challenges ahead".
This is also a day when the best employees of the company are honoured every year. The stalwarts at Jumbo Electronics took home awards for their dedicated years of service, while others won recognition for outstanding performance.
It was a fun day out for the children as well, as they indulged in exciting activities at the special play arena which featured clowns, magic shows, face painting, and a fancy dress show. As part of the celebrations, Jumbo also conducted several contests including a quiz competition, cricket match and a volleyball match. The winners of the competitions and matches were felicitated on Founder's Day.
