Safety guidance given to female students

Over 600 female students were imparted a rigorous hands on training under "Women Road & Safety and Awareness" drive which unfolded at the Mahe Manipal University to mark International Woman's Day.

Conceptualized and executed by ExHealth, the drive aims to educate women drivers about safe driving practices and road etiquettes. The first leg of the program was held at the university campus on March.9.

A series of interactive lectures aimed to acquaint the attendees with the possible dangers of overlooking some common hazardous on-road practices. The presentations were mainly conducted by Emirates Driving Institute.

This event was conceived as an educational platform in a bid to limit the number of emergency cases brought to the hospitals, road accidents and safety is the first such platform," said Dr. Prem Jagyasi, CEO, ExHealth.

"Currently the women drivers in UAE are virtually on par with their men counterparts. It becomes important therefore to empower them with such tools. Women in addition exude undeniable influence over their families as well; hence it makes it absolutely imperative to strengthen them as a step to educate the larger community."

The UAE registers nearly 45% of the total driving population as women. Several government and corporate houses have engaged in aggressive educational programs to bring about a mass awareness about issues related to road accidents.
