Ikea Kuwait - the globally renowned Swedish home furnishings brand - has been accorded the distinctive status of a 'Superbrand' by the Superbrands Kuwait Council.

This places Ikea Kuwait amongst the strongest brands in Kuwait chosen from over 1300 shortlisted consumer brands.

"Superbrands is an important industry recognition as it acknowledges the success of Ikea Kuwait's unique business philosophy and the value it has been offering to the local home furnishings retail market the past many years,"

says Ikea Kuwait General Manager Adel Al Shamali.

"Added value and a sustainable approach have always been at the core of our business philosophy."

Such factors, which were amongst the many assessed by the Superbrands Kuwait Council, have secured Ikea Kuwait a leadership status when it comes to market share, Al Shamali added.

Ikea Kuwait emerged as a Superbrand following a rigorous assessment across well established criteria by the Superbrands Kuwait Council. The Council is an independent body comprising renowned local and regional personalities in marketing, branding, business and media - who have been entrusted with the profound task of winnowing out brands who have demonstrated high emotional bonding, consumer recall, a credible reputation and strong product and service offerings. To be voted as a Superbrand by the independent Council is a powerful endorsement and evidence for existing customers, potential customers, the media, suppliers, investors and employees of a brand's exceptional status.

The elements that render Ikea Kuwait the Superbrands status are detailed in an insightful article in the first-ever edition of the recently-released Superbrands Kuwait Book. Alternatively, one can visit the Superbrands Kuwait website (www.kuwait.superbrandsmena.com/featured-superbrands.html) and click on the Ikea Kuwait logo to read an online version of the article.

"We applaud the endeavors of the Superbrands Kuwait Council in recognizing and encouraging brands in Kuwait to raise the bar of brand building, customer service & satisfaction, product development and marketing", says Al Shamali on a closing note, "However, for Ikea Kuwait, the Superbrands recognition reflects our continued efforts to build upon our competencies and offer customers added value in the coming years."

About Superbrands
Superbrands is a concept that originated in the United Kingdom in 1994 after its founder, Marcel Knobil, a branding expert, realized that there were many award schemes for advertising and marketing but none for the discipline of branding. Superbrands began life as a radio programme on BBC and evolved into a book format a year later. The launch of the UK edition of Superbrands in 1994 met with stunning success.

It served as a superb reference book for journalists, an outstanding teacher to management students and marketing professionals and an exceptional source of information for consumers who wanted to know more about brands they had often used. Today, Superbrands has grown into a truly multinational project operating in 83 countries across the Americas, Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia.
